Queens Food Tour on the NYC Silk Road
The Silk Road and Spice Route of Queens Food Tour Coming to NYC, Summer 2012

The ancient silk road and spice route prospered for almost 2,000 years by bridging east and west. The cultures along these arduous journeys are today represented by the people and neighborhoods across America. Many chose to settle in the world's most diverse borough of Queens, contributing to the rise of New York as the new center of international commerce and flavors. This summer, join us by remembering our unique histories and forging our collective futures at the crossroads of the new world with an ambitious two day food tour.

Together we will sample fare from the near east of timeless Athens, Greece and the Balkans in Astoria to ancient Alexandria in Little Egypt and the middle east on Steinway Street. From there, we will set sail on the subway to south Asia and spicy Gedrosian delights in Jackson Heights before crossing Forest Hills to the central Asian gastronomy of Samarqand, Uzbekistan. Our silk road passage through Queens will traverse from scenic Corona Park to conclude Saturday with the legendary western Chinese cuisine of Flushing to recount days of long lost Chang'an, present day Xi'an. Come back later to learn our Sunday itinerary through the Spice Route.
